This guide shows how to quickly fold a dollar bill origami letter Y in just a few minutes.
Turn some cash into letters for a fun gift or art piece with money alphabet letter guides.
Folding this letter just takes a dollar and is laid out into 6 simple steps.
Let’s get started!
STEP 1: Fold the bill in half lengthwise
We will start on the back of the dollar bill for this guide.
Match the bottom to the top edge to fold it directly in half lengthwise.
Rub the folded edge to make a visible crease and then unfold it.
STEP 2: Fold the bottom half twice to center
On the lower portion, make two evenly spaced folds to get to the center crease.
Use the solid line on the picture as a guide to see where to fold to.
STEP 3: Repeat the process on the top
Fold the top edge to the center with another two even folds.
When you have met the edges at the crease, fold it over into one-sixth to flatten it a bit.
Unfold it back into the third and flip it over to the face side for the next step.
STEP 4: Make a pointed crease on the left side
Hold at the center crease near where the point will be made and pinch the end under to form this crease.
Make sure the left edge is centered underneath and rub the edges of the point well.
STEP 5: Fold the top and bottom edges up
Bring both the top and bottom edges up to meet together over the center crease.
Grab the tip of the long end to flip the bill straight up and over for the next step.
STEP 6: Finish shaping the Y
Fold the long end diagonally down over the top.
Before pressing down hard, make sure the lines of the letter look nice and even.
You can also fold a portion of the long end under to shape it better.
To help it stay flat, put the bill under some heavy books for a while to help it stay in its shape.
